Yesterday we received a very welcome donation of eight laptops from our new friends at TOTE-M!
We’re delighted to have these. Our volunteer, Helmer Wieringa, spent a day installing the Linux system (the system we will use in our school’s new Computer Room) on each one. The quality & speed of the donated lap-tops means we are able to thoroughly test our chosen operating system before transferring to Talpe.
Two of the laptops are ear-marked for a School Administrator & part-time IT teacher whom we are seeking to employ locally (pending donations!). This will help provide easier online contact with administration as well as our students’ progress.
Many thanks to Lody Offenberg & Marieke van Moorst for helping ensure the children, monks & village children of Talpe have the opportunity to become IT-literate. This really is an amazing prospect for a village where just 80% of homes have electricity.
