It’s been a while since our last update on our school project in Sri Lanka.
I would like to take this opportunity to bring you up to date about the status of the Isuru PreSchool
We have endured many ups and downs since the second floor of our school was officially opened in June 2011. The Head Priest embezzled about € 5000, – and disappeared into the sunset
Since then, the building is not been taken care of properly and is in poor condition. The new priest has determined that it can be used only for the monks and this was not the deal.
Disappointed, but still with our main goal in mind, we decided that we will never abandon the children of Talpe. To assure them of a solid education and safety, we have moved the school into a building that is not linked to the Priest or the Talpe Tempel.

The name of our new school is Isuru PreSchool and the new website is ready the end of this month! (www.isurupreschool.com)
This small building has served its purpose brilliantly in recent years.
All costs for maintenance, lesson material and the salaries of the teachers are paid directly by us to the principal of the school.
But! The temporary building was never meant to be a school and must be urgently replaced with a real school building with sanitary facilities and a beautiful and safe playground.

Mr. Harsha Navaratne is Chairman of the Foundation www.sevalanka.org Sevalanka. The foundation owns the piece of land where our temporary building stand on.
Together with Sevalanka we have plans to buy a bigger piece of land from the local population and in the same place build a new proper school. This new school will meet all the basic requirements and will accommodate 60-80 children.
Spring 2016
Once the school is finished, it will be part of the ‘educational program’ of the Sevalanka Foundation that will guarantee the required standard of the teachers and the maintenance and thus the continuity of our school. We are very happy.
This means that we need funds. Funds to buy an additional piece of land and funds to actually build the new school. Very important to know is that the organisation ‘Wilde Ganzen’ really believed in our project and is therefore prepared to donate 50% extra of all the funds that we get.
A great gift and a true recognition of our Foundation.
We need € 30,000 – to buy the land, to realize the building and keep the school running for the first the first year. Your donation is a great contribution in it.
